Acura Legend Dash Build-up

The top of what will be the new dash.  The new dash measures 9" deep.

As you can see, I decided to go a different direction.  I wanted to put the RB12 from Zapco in the
dash all along.  Most people said I couldn't do it, and it might not turn out sounding like I want it
too, but I'm giving it a try.  The dash will now consist of the 12" in the middle, with the 6" and
tweets on each side.  I'm not sure how I'm going to setup the air controls, cruise, head unit, etc.
In the middle of the dash where the old air vent was I covered over with some sound deadener
(same as what is on the doors), and then put a piece of 1/2" MDF over it.  In order to fit the
sub, it will be at a 45 degree angle off the front of the dash facing the windshield.  If you have
any comments on how this might work, shoot me an email.

First picture with the sub frame in the dash.

Here is a picture of where the car currently is with the frame setup.  The black pieces of grille cloth
are in place to glass inside the car.  So once the frame work is sturdy enough with that glass in place,
then we can pull the frame out of the car to do the remainder of the dash work.  Also note in the pic
that part of the factory console is being used.  This will be modified slightly but will give the basic
shape of what the console will be.

Here is a shot with the side of the new dash which will match up to the door. (Sorry, didnt notice
at the time that the shot was focused on the steering wheel.  I had set a particular place to focus
in on for another shot, and forgot to reset it to auto focus.)

Same piece, only closer and more zoomed in.  Also notice how the center console to right side of
the dash has been wrapped as well.  I thought this might help glass the factory console to the new
dash better than just the strip of wood and 1 piece of grille cloth wrap.  On another note, in some
of the earlier pictures you can see a piece of wood to the far right of the dash.  It was going to be
there to bolt onto the factory mounting bracket.  When I was making the piece to mount to the door,
I realized that a piece this large could not fit there.  So low and behold, I had to pull the dash out to
unscrew it.  While I couldnt totally remove it yet, it did hold together pretty well with only 2 pieces
coming unglued.  It was a simple fix.  I know with the cloth soaked in resin, the right side will
hold together great.  I just hope the left side does as well...

Well, once again, the dash design has changed.  After talking with Jeff Smith tonight, who is the
captain of Team Zapco, and owner of Audio Designs in Atlanta, he thought I must have been
smoking some of the real good stuff to put the 12 the way I had it.  So I finally gave in and have
come to the realization that the sub just won't fit.  So, here is the new design.  It still has a few
flaws but I ran out of time tonight.  The console needs a piece to roll into the bottom where now
it is more flatten off on both sides.  The far right turned out very well and wraps around to the
door very nicely I think.

Here you can see where it wraps to the door.  Obviously there is some overhang from the loose
grill cloth, but you get the idea.

Here is a shot from the back seat showing the center console.  In the middle is where the Denon
head unit is now going to go.

A shot taken outside of the car.  You can see on the left hand side of the picture how it really is
wrapping into the door pretty well.  (well you would if the car wasn't getting so dirty...)

Here is a shot of the pods being molded into the dash for the digital gauges.
